Landfill gas project cuts emissions and creates community benefits

A major landfill gas project at the Winfields Road Waste Management Centre in Jandowae is delivering strong environmental outcomes while creating a new revenue stream for Western Downs Regional Council.

Delivered through a partnership between Western Downs Regional Council and LGI Limited, the system captures methane gas produced by decomposing waste and safely burns it off using an enclosed flare.
