Western Downs cuts emissions by 9900 tonnes through landfill gas project
Western Downs Regional Council in Queensland has slashed carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions by 9909 tonnes and captured more than 10,430 cubic metres of biogas in just two months – the equivalent of planting 165,000 seedlings for the next decade.
The project, a partnership between Western Downs Regional Council and LGI Limited (LGI), recovers biogas from the Jandowae Waste Management Facility and reduces methane emissions via an enclosed flaring unit.
