LGI to play a major role in clean energy future for NSW
LGI has partnered with the NSW Government’s Waste Assets Management Corporation (WAMC) to deliver a $20 million private investment, transforming the closed Belrose Waste Management Centre into a state-of-the-art energy storage hub. The project will see part of the Northern Beaches site converted into a 12MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capable of powering up to 1,500 Sydney homes during peak demand periods.
Having previously captured landfill gas to generate clean electricity at Belrose for three decades, LGI is proud to lead this next chapter in the site’s energy history. Repurposing this legacy infrastructure into modern, grid-stabilising battery storage reflects LGI’s ongoing commitment to driving private investment, supporting local jobs, and accelerating NSW toward a clean energy future.
