Biogas Capture and Abatement from Landfill Project
We expedite the transition to renewables with clean energy and carbon abatement solutions. Carbon credits enable a commercially viable project to create additional abatement.
-
Long-term contract with the Bingo Industries to recover biogas and abate carbon from the landfill at their Eastern Creek Recycling Ecology Park (& Landfill). LGI collaborates with Bingo to optimise biogas extraction to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to contribute to the local economy.
- In 2024, we were given the go-ahead to invest up to $18.5m into Bingo Industries’ Eastern Creek Landfill site in Western Sydney to install a 4MW renewable energy power station to harness landfill gas to generate renewable energy, sufficient to power approximately 7,000 homes.
- The energy will primarily support Bingo’s Eastern Creek Recycling Ecology Park and a state-wide network of transfer stations, with surplus energy contributing to the National Electricity Market.
- The power station, currently in construction, will supply reliable, renewable power (available 24/7) to Bingo on site behind the meter and LGI will also supply renewable power to Bingo’s other facilities.
- Chris Jeffrey, CEO of BINGO Industries, said “the agreement with LGI forms an important part of the company’s decarbonisation plan.”
- Jarryd Doran, CEO of LGI, said, “It’s a phenomenal result as we work with a leading Australian private waste operator to enhance carbon abatement and sustainable energy practices in the region. LGI will upgrade and expand the biogas system and to install and operate a new state of the art biogas to renewable 4MW power station project.”
