The Eastern Creek Renewable Power Project features four 1MW generators which harness landfill gas, creating renewable and dispatchable energy, all while helping abate emissions from the site and powering the equivalent of 7,000 homes per year.
The project builds on $5 million in landfill gas infrastructure previously installed and marks a significant milestone in LGI’s ongoing collaboration with BINGO Industries. The four-megawatt power station—operational from May 2025 —supplies reliable, renewable power (24/7) behind the metre to the Eastern Creek site and BINGO Industry’s state wide network of transfer stations.
Surplus energy is exported to the National Electricity Market to supporting the broader local grid.
The $18.5 million deal between BINGO Industries and LGI has set a new benchmark for the treatment of toxic landfill biogas and the benefits this can bring to local communities.
These are exciting times that also represent LGI’s first power generation project with a private-sector waste management company.
Project Snapshot
Long-term contract with the BINGO Industries to recover biogas and abate carbon from the landfill at their Eastern Creek Ecology Park (& Landfill). LGI collaborates with Bingo to optimise biogas extraction to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to contribute to the local economy.
In 2024, we were given the go-ahead to invest up to $18.5m into BINGO Industries’ Eastern Creek Ecology Park site in Western Sydney to install a 4MW renewable energy power station to harness landfill gas to generate renewable energy, sufficient to power approximately 7,000 homes.
The energy will primarily support BINGO Industries’ Eastern Creek Ecology Park and a state-wide network of transfer stations, with surplus energy contributing to the National Electricity Market.
The power station, commissioned in May 2025, supplies reliable, renewable power (available 24/7) to BINGO Industries on site behind the meter. LGI will also supply renewable power to BINGO’s other facilities.
CEO of BINGO, said “the agreement with LGI forms an important part of the company’s decarbonisation plan, enabling renewable energy to support site operations.”
Jarryd Doran, CEO of LGI, said, “It’s a phenomenal result as we work with a leading Australian private waste operator to enhance carbon abatement and sustainable energy practices in the region. LGI has upgraded and continues to expand the biogas system to fuel the new state of the art renewable 4MW power station project.”

BINGO Industries’ partnership with LGI underscores our unwavering commitment to sustainability, safety, and innovation. The 4MW power generation plant at our Eastern Creek Ecology Park is a testament to our dedication to driving positive environmental impact and fostering thriving communities.
We’ve been honoured to contribute to this groundbreaking project from inception to delivery, and we’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries for a Waste Free Australia.
– Kevin Gluskie, CEO, BINGO Industries
LGI is proud to reach this exciting milestone of electricity generation at Eastern Creek with BINGO Industries. This partnership is a demonstration of how we can unlock the full potential of biogas as a clean, renewable energy source that supports both environmental sustainability and economic resilience.
I am incredibly proud of what our team has been able to accomplish in such a short period of time, as we look forward to exploring more opportunities with BINGO Industries.
Commissioning the power station in May 2025 is a key part of LGI’s long term partnership with BINGO Industries, enabling renewable energy to support site
operations.
LGI’s growing portfolio now includes nine renewable energy generation sites, dispatching over 140GWh of electricity to the distribution network each year. This is renewable electricity on demand, when and where it’s needed.
-
Dispatchable, flexible renewable energy
-
Converts methane into less harmful CO2 to cut greenhouse gas emissions
-
Improves local air quality and reduces landfill odours
-
Best practice landfill management
-
Reduces demand for fossil fuels
-
Stabilises the local electricity system
Discussions around the potential for future expansion are already on the table and the future looks even more exciting as BINGO Industries and LGI begin plans for installing battery energy storage systems to further increase capacity.
