7 News spotlights LGI‘s landfill gas-to-power plant in Toowoomba

Renewable energy – generated from landfill sites – powering sewage treatment plants. That’s the future! 

LGI’s new clean energy installation at the Toowoomba Waste Management Centre is the first in Queensland to convert methane from landfill into power for local council water treatment facilities. 

“The wastewater treatment plant is our biggest user of electricity in the region for our council, so this is a real win-win for us” – Nancy Sommerfield, Toowoomba Councilor

It isn’t just lowering the cost of power, it’s also reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
